KOKOMO, Ind. — It's not too late to be an Indiana University Kokomo student for the fall semester.

New Student OrientationNew students tour the campus in preparation for the fall semester.

Potential students may apply for admission through Monday, Aug. 6, for the fall semester, which begins Monday, Aug. 20.

Chancellor Michael Harris encouraged potential students to apply and begin work on a high-quality IU Kokomo degree.

"It is a great time to be on our campus," he said. "We have world-class faculty preparing our students to be north central Indiana's future leaders. We are working hard, being innovative, and making intentional change to be the best regional campus in the world."

The campus waives the application fee for 2012 Ivy Tech Community College graduates who apply in person in the Office of Admissions, and offers a free gift to those students.

Admissions counselor Angie Siders said the waived fee and gift are part of the streamlined process to help Ivy Tech graduates go on to earn a four-year degree.

"These students have reached their first educational milestone, and we are ready to help them succeed in earning a bachelor's degree," she said. "We have admissions counselors, academic advisors, and financial aid counselors ready to help them."

IU Kokomo has built a closer relationship with Ivy Tech in the last two years, helping students create a plan for seamless transfer after earning a two-year degree.

The campus has experienced phenomenal growth in the last two years, adding 12 new degree programs, at the graduate and undergraduate levels. It also introduced team sports. The men's basketball and women's volleyball teams played in front of enthusiastic fans, both from the community and the student body, in their first seasons, and recruiting is under way for the new cross country team. The teams begin competing as members of the NAIA in July.

IU Kokomo also has revised its academic advising centers, enhanced financial aid, and worked to make the campus more beautiful.

IU Kokomo students graduate with the least amount of debt compared to other IU regional campuses. The campus also earned the highest grade in the state from the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, which is based on what is taught in the classroom.
